CULTIVATING A GROWTH MINDSET
“When you go from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset, a new world of possibilities opens up.”
The above quote helps us to reflect upon an important point, that if individuals believe that they can improve their abilities, intelligence and talents through their efforts then they can reach anywhere they want to. Carol Dweck , a renowned psychologist introduced the world to the concept of “growth mindset’’. According to her, individuals having growth mindset can achieve great things in life. So how do we develop a growth mindset? In order to develop a growth mindset its important to first accept that there are many things we need to learn and work upon and being open towards constructive criticism. Replace the word “failing” with the word “learning.” People having Growth-mindset know how to constantly create new goals to keep themselves stimulated. If we have a “growth mindset,” we enjoy challenges, despite the risk, usually because we value learning and growth more than others thinking we know what we’re doing. And because we’re always trying new things, we often don’t know what we’re doing. Still, those of us with a growth mindset often build new skills and manifest something more easily because we believe we can and so we really work at it. Take ownership over your attitude. Once you develop a growth mindset, own it. Acknowledge yourself as someone who possesses a growth mentality and be proud to let it guide you throughout your life.
