Resilience-The Power to Bounce Back from Adversity
‘’Whatever in me in stronger than what is out there to defeat me.’’
The above statement reflects the mindset of a resilient person. A resilient person can be described as the one who has the capacity to ‘bounce back’ in the face of stress and adversity. A resilient person reflects feelings of self-worth, self-confidence, autonomy and self-reliance. Being resilient can be empowering. So, how can we develop resilience? Well, to develop resilience, a person should have three cognitive beliefs. First, I Have (Interpersonal strengths). Second, I Am (respectful towards myself and others for their journey and struggle. Third, I Can (find ways to solve problems I face). These beliefs can be developed by finding positive role models around us and developing a mindset that one’s life has purpose and meaning despite of the challenges and hardships.
Resilience is a choice. It’s choosing to rise above your circumstances, no matter how difficult, and become the person you are meant to be.
